Welcome to 2012

I thought I’d kick off the new year with the start of my 366 project which means I’ll be taking a photo every day of 2012 (it’s a leap year as someone pointed out to me, so 366 not 365!)

Now that we have a garden of our own I am keen to document the wondrous buds and blooms that will be popping up over the next year. We have no idea what to expect really as we moved in Autumn and so missed a lot of the plants and flowers. It is so exciting to see what will emerge and I plan to capture it all on camera.

I’ll be shooting a little something from the garden every day but haven’t quite figured out how often or where on the website I will post the pictures so they don’t take over the blog too much. I’m sure I will find a good place for them, probably in a weekly round up on the blog.

For now, here are some dried hydrangeas that I thought were quite dreamy and ethereal. All the white, dried, lacy leaves remind me a bit of Miss Havisham which is of course timely as we’ve just enjoyed the new TV version of Great Expectations on our screens.

I’ve also been experimenting with shooting and editing video alongside my stills. I am very much still learning so this is a bit unpolished but I hope to make more of these little whimsical garden videos every couple of weeks (what should I call them, Gardenisms? Gardenellas? Gardendailies? Gardendays?)

Happy New Year to you all.

Rona - Hi Rosie

I love your 365 project idea and your hydrangea photos are stunning…so ‘ghostly’ and very Miss Havisham.

Looking forward to seeing how your garden comes to life in 2012 :-) .

Very best wishes
Rona

Kate - What a brilliant idea! I love gardens and outside space all year round, so it will be lovely to watch how your little patch blooms and develops.

Inga K - Rosie, the shots of the hydrangeas are amazing, who knew that dried hydrangea heads could look so beautiful!
